Meanwhile, back in Ontario…
Hmm, is it being negative to suggest to someone that they proofread their online book reviews before posting them? I think it's being constructive. It's for their own good. It's for the good of writing.
Meanwhile, I'm back in Ontario, after a great three-weeks-and-a-bit out west, first in Edmonton, and then in the Kootenays. Spent most of my Kootenay time in New Denver, but also did workshops and readings in Burton, Nakusp, Grand Forks, Nelson, Kaslo, and Rossmore. An amazing time, and I really am feeling like part of the New Denver community now. They've been so welcoming to me.
Tomorrow, in Toronto, at Magpie on Dundas West, the launch of David W. McFadden's Why Are You So Long and Sweet? Collected Long Poems, as part of the Insomniac Press spring launch. Here's an interview with me on Open Book Toronto about editing the collection.
Over and out.

hm, proofreading is good. being meticulous is good, as are babies and peace and so on.
mistakes happen. it frustrates.
with print media converging with immediate speech, being nearly as quick as spoken, would asking for no typos or typesetting errors, or ill-conceived, too early speech, be like asking one to converse, but only if there are no ums, ahs, ers or other slips?
and thinking more, something not properly proofread seems indicative of the whole being suspect. (what's that eating a rotten egg saying?)
if the surface level isn't smooth, then how carefully considered must the thoughts themselves. seems sloppy and distracting at least.
What is really ludicrous is that someone would post reviews without proofreading them.
If someone is desperate, for some reason, to produce as many words in as many places as possible, you would think that they would at least be careful enough about the myth of themselves they are trying to build, that they spend a few seconds proofing...
What is the proofreading thing in reference to? Anyone have links?
